Environmental Engineerig, Science Communication, Community Engagement | Athens, Lesvos, Tinos, Mykonos, Greece | 2018 – current
About: HYDROUSA is a Horizon 2020 project on Demonstration of Water Loops with Innovative Regenerative Business Models for the Mediterranean Region. The pilots are located on three islands in Greece; Lesvos, Tinos and Mykonos.
Partner: alchemia-nova
Role: Environmental Engineer & Science Communicator
Tasks: I have closely worked with alchemia-nova in HYDROUSA project since 2018. We develop low cost nature-based technologies to tackle water and wastewater issues in Mediterranean region. My tasks vary from environmental engineering ones to science communication. On one hand, I am responsible for the design of a slow sand filtration system to treat rainfall water, on the other hand, I am fully involved in communication with stakeholders. I collaborate with the partners on co-development and delivery of community engagement activities such as design of questionnaires for stakeholders’ interviews and facilitate co-creation workshops. This project requires working in the field, site visits, participating to bi-annual meetings, submitting deliverables, coordinate call meetings and presenting the project to various type of events.
What motivates me in this project: The most exciting of this collaboration is that the tasks vary a lot, for example, participating to workshops about circular economy strategy in Greece to plans for participatory model for community engagement or planting in the field. I am glad that I am part of a state-of-the-art project linked to circular economy which takes place over these years in my home country.
